CHARLIE SMITH london is delighted to present a stunning collection of new large scale paintings by Gavin Nolan made specifically for London Art Fair's Art Projects. Born in Wales in 1977, Nolan completed his Masters at the Royal Academy Schools in 2002, having graduated from Loughborough University School of Art with his BA (Hons) in 1999. Since then Nolan has secured his place as one of London's most exciting young painters, becoming known for his brutal portraits that oscillate between horror and beauty; attraction and repulsion; the living and the dead. As a founding member of the Rockwell Project who has shown at Leisure Club Mogadishni (Copenhagen), Wooster Projects (NYC), Chungking Projects (LA), Changing Role Gallery (Naples) and Mark Moore Gallery (Santa Monica), and who has now been placed in major private collections in Germany, Switzerland, the UK and the US, Nolan is becoming recognised as a young international artist of great significance.
